School Rules
We have rules at School so that the children can benefit fully from the school environment and the educational programme.
Through school rules, we enhance orderliness in the school; we want to provide structure and routine that is predictable and consistent, in order to promote security and confidence in young children.
School rules promote fairness and justice in expecting all children and their families to follow the same rules. People are treated in the same way and everyone knows exactly what is expected of them.
Our rules are designed to promote safety, health and hygiene as the safety and nurture of our children are paramount. We have in place precautionary policies and procedures that are able to be implemented in all eventualities and circumstances, e.g., the children regularly practice fire drills, riot drills and sniper drills.
Discipline in the school environment allows for organisation, calmness and learning. In turn, each child is encouraged to develop self-control and self-management, thereby becoming less egocentric and more socialised. Corporal punishment is not allowed under any circumstances.
Life skills is one of the primary reasons for school rules. Children need to appreciate the need for order and rules in the school environment, so as to understand that there is a need for social order in the wider world.
It is important that the whole school community demonstrate respect for school rules; parents and children model compliance, with the staff being responsible for monitoring and adherence.
